DTU Bioinformatics is a research-based department with some of the most cited researchers in Denmark who are world leading in their fields. Current research themes include Health Informatics, Biotechnology and Metagenomic Informatics and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Life Science.

Why should you become a PhD student at DTU Bioinformatics?

As a PhD student at DTU Bioinformatics, you will be part of an international research environment. The Department attracts highly qualified and motivated researchers, teachers and students from all over the world. 30 different nationalities are represented among the staff.

The department has around 20 PhD students, and our PhD school is highly prioritized. We have a number of activities for PhD students including a three day introductory course, a PhD Club and seminars to strengthen motivation and cooperation among PhD students. 

Research is conducted by a staff consisting of about 12 faculty members, 7 post-doctoral fellows and visiting scientists. You will be able to use the Supercomputer Computerome (#162 at top 500 list of supercomputers and specialized for Life Science). A well-established HPC infrastructure and a group of highly qualified computer specialist and administrative staff also contribute to an excellent research environment.

How do you become PhD student at DTU Bioinformatics?

National as well as international candidates may apply for a PhD programme. We are constantly seeking highly qualified candidates with good grades and a focused interest in research. The PhD programme is a learning process where the PhD student learns to perform research under guidance. It is therefore important to establish a personal contact with a researcher before applying for the PhD programme.
