The Department of Bio and Health Informatics (DTU Bioinformatics), a newly established department at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), is looking for a well-qualified and highly-motivated team leader for daily management and development of the department's administration. The department has a rich international and dynamic work environment.

The Department’s administrative team
The most important task of the department’s administrative team is to support the researchers in order for them to concentrate on their core tasks; namely research, education, innovation and external collaboration. As administrative team leader, you should be able to manage and cooperate with people at all levels, as well as be able to create and run a coherent administrative support unit at the department.
The administrative team consists of four employees who are responsible for financial support, PhD and study administration, HR administrative coordination, communication assistance, section support, purchasing and daily operations.

Your key role and tasks
Your key role will be to manage the financial and administrative activities of the department that runs multiple research projects, degree programs and two core infrastructure units – The High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure and DTU Multi Assay Core (DMAC). This role will require close working relationships mainly with the director of the institute as well as the departments’ management board. You will report to the director. As the department is relatively new, it will be your responsibility to establish and ensure appropriate procedures within these areas. As administrative team leader you will, in close cooperation with the director and department’s management team, prepare the department’s annual strategic documents, develop financial key performance indicators, prepare annual department budgets and have the full financial overview. You will also take responsibility for our project /legal contracts with external partners and funding bodies. This requiring you to work together with DTU’s central administration and support teams. You will closely interact with the respective central administration departments of DTU including HR, Finance, Legal, Communication, Campus service and PhD offices. In addition, you will also interact with the department's researchers.

You will play a key role in ensuring efficiency in further establishing and maintaining our administrative set-up, our internal and external communication, and the administration of our PhD programmes.

Your background
You have an administrative background and a motivating and inspiring managerial style in a public or private organization. It is desired that you hold a Master’s degree in Business administration or Accounting or Finance or similar education but it is not essential. You have a strong administrative / managerial experience with strong communication skills. Your natural attention to detail and accuracy leads to your success in people and financial management and project administration. You have experience with project finance and quality management. You are skilled at interacting with grant providers and project partners and experienced with managing and negotiating project contracts. Strong communication skills enable you to make an impact and be convincing in a large, international organization.

You are an enthusiastic team leader who understands the value of training, motivating and involving your team members. You apply an appreciative and respectful managerial style, while focussing on your own and your team’s ambitious goals. You are authoritative and diplomatic in decision-making – even the hard ones. You are able to maintain focus and deliver on tasks in a fast, dynamic and deadline-driven work environment. Last but not the least, you are proficient in oral and written English and have good knowledge of all MS Office programs and basic IT Skills.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on qualifications and the collective agreement made between the Danish Ministry of Finance and HK/Stat or the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations (AC overenskomst).
